Alumnus Preston Williams Recognized for Legacy in Urbana School District | 150 Engage Illinois Office of Corporate Relations
Celebrating our Sesquicentennial 1867-2017
Alumnus Preston Williams was the first African-American superintendent in Urbana School District 116. After a 26-year career in education, which included jobs as a teacher, coach, human resources director, and deputy superintendent, Williams had an Urbana elementary school named in his honor: Dr. Preston L. Williams Jr. Elementary School.
